The past few days...

2 days after minibeanie's arrival, we were discharged on my birthday. What a birthday present from God :) ... But honestly, I wasn't in any celebratory mood. The physical aftermath of the delivery was still very raw & painful, I hadn't slept for more than 2 hours straight and there was the worrying news that minibeanie had jaundice.

We went back to the hospital for a follow up the next day and found that minibeanie's jaundice had indeed risen to a level that warrant the blue-light treatment. Well, we've now been staying here for 2 days. minibeanie was put on a 2-3 hourly feed (jaundice makes the baby lethargic & often sleep longer than they should). And since the hospital's policy is full rooming-in, we took charge of all feeds & diaper changes just like we would at home.

Thankfully, minibeanie has responded well to the 'force feeding' routine and blue-light treatment. Tonight, we were told that we could switch off the blue-light lamp (we could finally see his eyes when he sleeps!) and tomorrow we would very likely be going home :)

Congratulations !
What a cute baby... I love the first picuture totally wrapped one !

Lum also had same problem. She stayed under the light for one night. Luckily we could leave hospital together as I stayed there for 5 days.

It will be very hard for mama for the first month but it will get better soon and your baby will be cuter and cuter every day !
Looking forward to seein your family soon !

Baby jaundice is quite normal. So long minibeanie feeds well and drinks well, the bilirubin should be cleared from his body quite soon. M looks sleepy too, does he have papa jaundice? :PP Take care of yourself.. .and how was the labour?

Hi Joy & Nonka!

Thanks for your encouraging comments :)

The 2-3 hourly feed-burp-change routine seems like a "Neverending Story" for now...hope I'd be able to cope when DH returns to work after 3 weeks!
